A letter written by Meera:

Dear Friend,

                  I would like to invite your attention to the points mentioned below. 

        UGC has informed the Supreme Court that the aggregate marks are fixed by a MODERATION COMMITTEE, which is a very "expert" committee of UGC.

               UGC NET June 2012 result was declared with 65% in aggregate for general candidate and 60% for OBC and 55% for SC/ST/PWD candidates. 

               When u consider the % of marks fixed by UGC u will see some great mistakes they have done. First of all the percentage of marks fixed must be able to achieve or it must be accurate. Even if accepting that they have the right to fix the criteria as they deem fit.  It must be 'fit' or proper in all respects. The 65% marks in aggregate means out of 350 marks it is 227.5 marks.

You may be aware of that the marking scheme is of 2 marks in each question and having No negative marks.  Therefore general category candidates have to acquire 228 marks to win. Whereas for the SC/ST/PWD candidates in the Court Verdict on SLP it is said that UGC have lowered the aggregate marks to 55%, thus they have shown "justice" to this category.  The 55% marks means out of 350 it is 192.5 marks. 194 mark means 55.43% marks in aggregate.  Then it will be more than what they have fixed finally in the result notification.  

              In the notification inviting application for UGC NET JUNE 2012 they have rounded off the mark to the OBC Category to pass the Paper III with 45% means  67.5 marks which is rounded off to 68 to pass. They can round the % of marks to minimum to pass PAPER III for the OBC, then for the SC/ST/PWD candidates they must lower the 0.5 marks in aggregate marks with the same rule. Even SC/ST/PWD candidate achieve 192 marks he/she will not pass, is it justice. IS IT JUSTICE TO THE SC/ST/PWD candidates, Is it a privilege to the downtrodden, is it expertness. SC/ST/PWD the weaker section of the society have NOT got justice by this result announcement. 

                The marking scheme is 2 marks and No negative marks.

               I have achieved 192 marks in Education in the PWD category (belong to VH)  where as for the 0.5 marks I have not qualified the final criteria.  Is exactly the 192.5 marks is achievable by any candidates.  I am having visual disability and I have put my maximum effort even with this disability, but they have not done justice.  I am requesting for all the candidates belong to SC/ST/PWD category, even if accepting their arguments. 

             To finally conclude they have not made the aggregate marks without proper study of the results and marking scheme, or they have fixed the percentage without any calculation or method.
