Dear Friends,
Good news to all of you. Two Review Petitions are filed. It has rejuvenated our struggle against UGC again. At last, candidates have filed Review Petition against granting of UGC’s
Special Leave Petition ( SLP ). The Supreme Court had upheld the University
Grants Commission's (UGC) final qualifying criteria policy prior to declaring
results of the National Eligibility Test (NET), which was held in June 2012 in an important judgment delivered on 21st September, 2013. The NET is the qualifying exam for eligibility to junior research fellowship (JRF) and lectureship in Indian universities and colleges.

The decision of Supreme Court of granting the SLP filed by UGC against the
verdict of Nagpur High Court Division Bench surprised and shocked almost
everyone ( perhaps UGC too? ). Surprisingly, almost 11 High Courts and 2
Division Benches had given the verdicts in favour of candidates. The last
sessions, arguments and the body languages of the judges clearly defined and
indicated that the SLP will be rejected. But what came on the last day
embarrassed everyone. Even the senior lawyers raised their eyebrows after
hearing the verdict. The diary numbers of Review Petitions are posted below. The review petitions are under scrutiny yet.
Now we need to play our cards right. Best of luck.
